A Must Visit in Brooklyn Heights/DUMBO: I have to say I completely disagree with the negative review about this restaurant. Check out citysearch...all the reviews are stellar. This place is a great find. Cozy, friendly, DELICIOUS and romantic. I've been twice: once on a crowded Saturday night and the other in the dead of a blizzard. Couldn't have gotten better service. In fact, they sent me home with a free baguette during the snow storm, because the kitchen was closing. The food is exquisite (apprently the chef and the owner are married!) and the drinks are one-of-a-kind...lots of local beers on tap. They make their own limoncello and raspberry liquor on site, too! And don't even get me going on the desert! ;-) Can't wait to visit when the patio opens. This place is a must if you're a local or looking for an impressive date spot right under the Brooklyn Bridge.
Highly dissappointed and RACIST environment: I invited my mother and sisters for mother's day weekend in New York City. I was very excited to take them to a fabulous new york dinner. I decided to keep it local and stayed in Brooklyn. From when we stepped into the restaurant to end the service was incredibly awful. I work in industry and expect to feel comfortable and welcomed, but the experience was anything but that. The two hostesses were uninviting, rude and hurtful. My family is hispanic and boyfriend is white. The hostest argued with me that my party of five was not complete, she could not believe that my boyfriend was with our party. Even though I said our party is complete and are all here. She insisted that there was only 4 of us. Why would anybody argue about this? I hate to say it but it was a racist situation. Well we finally sat and the service that followed was so bad that I'm speechless. To make it short entrees did not arrive on time, half of the entrees arrived 25minutes after the rest of the table was done!!!! We ordered coffee and the sugar caddy had no equal my boyfriend had to stand up and get it from the waiter station because nobody of the staff was available to do there job. And, it kept getting worse the hostesses kept walking by hissing and rolling their eyes because we weren't leaving soon enough. I overheard one of the hostest say I want them out. My sister ordered dessert and they kept asking "done yet?" "done yet?" I would have complained but I saw no manager on sight and the hostesses well one them seemed like they were manager and since their attitude was so terrible I did'nt want a scene I was already embrassed enough because this happened in front of my family. I ponder if we were all white would we have had such terrible experience? :(
