L&M = amazing. it is waaaay out there but it is more worth it than going to a dealership in terms of knowledge (let alone price). i have owned my volvo for about 4 years, always ran pretty well...at least i thought. the timing belt snapped, and if anyone knows anything about timing belts they would tell you that the car is toast and to forget about it....not L&M, these cats made a few adjustments got new parts and put a new belt in (IN LESS THAN TWO DAYS), and this car is running like new now. so smooth and the pick up is amazing, better than i ever experienced in this car before now. i don't even usually review anything but needed to come find a place to review them just because of how good they are. also when you meet them you immediately feel ok with leaving them your car. i honestly can't say enough about em.....do yourself a favor bring your car there IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Today after much debate I took my car to L & M Foreign Cars. I've been having problems with my vehicle from day one, the check engine light, abs, tc, you name it, it was happening to this vehicle. Anyway I took it in for a full diagnostic and to my surprise there was still a problem with the engine. I was informed that the previous mechanic "fooled" the computer in order to stop the check engine light from coming on, so the vehicle will appear to be fixed, there was also two leaks and some wear and tear with the brakes disc. I now know what is actually wrong with my vehicle thanks to the owner of L & M. I really appreciate your service, it was par excellent, so to speak. I will definitely be going to this repair shop when is time to have these problem rectified.
I live in upstate NY and was stranded in Brooklyn on a Sunday, the day before New Year's Eve. On New Year's Eve, I called several VW dealers on the assumption that they were less likely to swindle me, but if they were open, the service department was closed; if it wasn't closed, they could only handle my car in 4 days. On the internet my daughter found L&M, read the excellent reviews, and I got towed to them. They did a computer analysis of my car's systems, explained to me what the problems were, and spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon fixing them. A lot of this stuff should have been picked up by my dealer in upstate NY but I guess they didn't look. They replaced the battery (the main problem), the passenger compartment air filter (filthy), the engine air filter (also filthy); the reattached a hose that had come undone; they blew the leaves out of the engine compartment; they found a small oil leak in the engine and replaced a gasket; they washed the entire engine. Then Bill took me for a test drive; half way through we changed seats and he asked me to drive. He didn't like the way it handled and checked the air pressure on the tires--one was over-inflated, which he fixed. A passenger side door wasn't flush; he fixed that. The windshield wipers streaked; he cleaned them (with alcohol). He urged me not to take the long trip home to upstate just yet --I'd get a free check-up after New Year's Day, but I had to leave. He asked me to call him after New Year's day. Early in the AM the day after New Year's I got a phone call from Bill asking me how the car was running. This shop was scrupulously honest and open, knowledgeable and smart, up to date, courteous, concerned, took pride in their workmanship, and I am thinking of making them my regular repair shop--though I live 250 miles away, I am in Bklyn frequently and may just do that. The guys I trusted up here did shoddy work in comparison.
