Carefully laid-out as envisioned by Alexander Jackson Davis and Andrew Jackson Downing, the cemetery is a beautiful example of historic landscape design. The most notable of the many historic graves and memorials found here, is the memorial that was erected in memorial of the victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist fire of 1911. Beneath the monument are interred the eight formerly unidentified victims of the tragedy. Several other historic and noteworthy graves can also be found here.
