User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA Great Bar: Barbes - A very cool bar with a French name. Its nice atmosphere and great entertainment with all types of music performed, sometimes filmstrips -- Monday nights are international film, Tuesdays readings. Also, they offer a real Irish session, a ragtime band or rumba later in the week. I love taking my friends over there -- they really enjoy it. Whenever I go I always meet very interesting, well-travelled and -learned people.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest Music Room: The small red room in the back has the best sound of any club, even the Village Vanguard! 100% of tip jar or cover [$5-10] goes to the musicians. Low priced drinks: a pint of Brooklyn Lager is only $4. Adventurous bookings from free jazz to eastern european brass to old-timey. Even an up-to-date website with music descriptions. Worth the trip from anywhere!
