I was completely disappointed with my second visit to Stonehome wine bar. Especially since my first visit had me running around recommending them to all my friends, family & business partners.
My first experience, we had no reservations but still managed to have dinner. An awesome steak dinner and Superior service. Braised beef in red wine, you could cut it with your fork Yum!
A delicious crisp bottle of wine, a scrumptious bitter sweet chocolate cake.
My next visit, not so great. Awesome steak dinner gone, along with the superior service.
It was a very momentous occasion... birthday slash going away dinner for my sister.I raved to her a about Stonehome wine bar. I made reservations for 5 pm & specifically ask to be seated by the garden for a party of two. I was assured that would not be a problem. We arrived at 4:45 pm & was greeted by Kelly, our server & apparently the hostess at the time. Kelly informed us very sternly, with a smile, that they weren't ready for us. I informed Kelly we had reservation & inquired if we could possibly have drinks at the bar until they were ready. "No... were not ready for customers at this moment."is all she said . We had to leave,& traipse across the street to Moe's bar, were I spent $ 60.00 on drinks while waiting for the Stonehome wine bar to open at 5pm. That was a bit embarrassing. I had to convince my sister at this point that this place was awesome. I hoped the fabulous steak dinner I'd previously talked up would over shadow our ruff treatment. right? ....wrong.
We arrived at 5:15pm, with trepidation I asked to be seated by the garden as per my reservation. Kelly's reply, Yes... as long as your done before 7pm. ( ?? ) So apparently our reservation means nothing, now we have to put a time frame on our celebration, just in cause another much larger party arrives & needs our seats ? We certainly didn't expect to sit there for four hours but if we did celebrate that long would we have been asked to move,or rush through our meals?
We ordered a bottle of wine with our appetizers, one of the appetizers was incorrect. We can over looked such a small mistake, since now that we got to know her, Kelly our server is warming up to us & is pleasant. I told Kelly how I had recently dined at Stonehome,no less than two weeks ago. I also raved about the meal I enjoyed & how I loved the steak that was braised & soaked in wine. "this would have been an ideal opportunity to tell me, the customer, that this dish is no longer cooked in that fashion". no such luck.
Dinner finally arrived sliced wagyu beef, stuffed baked potato with mustard greens...the braised beef, I thought I was getting in a fist sized portion, was now a teaspoon portion, stuffed in half a yukon gold potato instead. I saw its twin half on my sisters plate in front of her. When I asked why it was not what we ordered, the response was " we don't make it that way any longer. sorry." Now... I'm disgusted & can't enjoy my meal.
My bill came to $150.00 we lost our appetites, hardly finished our meals, and didn't bother to order dessert or another bottle of anything. Which was unfortunate. I've been a wine enthusiast for 8 years now. I'd been looking forward to selecting more wine that evening.
I took my sister & our celebration to Luz & had a night cap at Moe's bar & simply called it a do over !!
I spent hard earned $$$ that evening that could have all been spent at Stonehome wine bar.
What a disappointment and my I add a waste of time..
But, on the bright side I know where to go & were not to go for a great evening.
    Marie.

Chilled Wine - Red or White: This tiny little wine bar tucked away on Lafayette Avenue has all the charm of an upscale wine bar, less the attitude. Decorated in warm tones and earthy textures, this bar has quickly become a favorite amongst those who seek a mellow atmosphere and vibrant conversation. This place is perfect for dates or hanging with a friend who is in town or you haven't seen for a long time and would like somewhere to hang and talk without the blasting music and annoying drunkards of a regular bar.
