Just another ghetto Chinese Restaurant on 8th ave: When I say, "ghetto" I mean the literal sense of the word, nothing degrading. 8th ave has become the new Mecca for the new Fujianese immigrants because one does not need to speak English to get around. Therefore 8th ave has lost much of it's old school competitiveness for quality and has pretty much downgraded to the level of competing for price rather than service and quality of food. I no longer eat here because this place always give me a stomach ache, the meats are stale, the live seafood are half dead (see for yourself in the tanks), the vegetables are withered/old, the chefs pound out the food ASAP and the people who eat there are mostly nonasians who do not know what good food is and Fujianese who think that it is good food. I would rather drive out to Chinatown to pick up a wonton noodle soup than to eat on 8th ave anymore. Although, I must say that ave U has become the new real non-ghetto Chinatown with a mixture of Cantonese, Vietnamese, and a bit of northern Chinese people. The food on ave U has upgraded in quality, pricing is great and the food is comparable to Manhattan's Chinatown if not better. Take the extra 20 minutes to drive to ave U for better Chinese food. At least you do not have to worry about some woman just off the boat hocking a huge loogey at your pants. 8th ave is the new East Broadway, nothing but new Fujianese Immigrants changing 8th ave into the new filth-hole which used to be called East Broadway, Manhattan.
