MUST EAT HERE! This place is a landmark in Colombian families living in NY. The food is outragiously good as are the shakes and the Daily soups that come with a side of rice. The Bandeja Paisa is what you want on your first trip/experience here. Steak with rice, red beans, pork rind, plantains, avacado, egg, arepa, mmmmm. Ive gone to this place since it was a tiny litte dive and you used to have to wait in line next to the tables while people ate, it was so small. Years ago they expanded and even opened up another restaruant in Astoria on Broadway which serves the same food with a full bar! I spent 4 months in Colombia last year.. From Bogota to Periera.. and never once did I eat a Bandeja Paisa that could compete with the one here! Parking is difficult, easy to get to by the seven train, 82nd street station. Cash Only, very affordable, about 10-15 dollars for an entree, 3-5 for the soup of the day. There are lots of Colombian / Latin American restaurants in the area.. but only one Tierras Colombianas... my only complaint... they changed their disposable placemats .. which used to have a collage of photos from around Colombia.. Enjoy..
Tierras is one of the best spots in Jackson Heights. Not only do you get a lot for your money, the atmosphere is comfortable and the wait staff are always super nice. Love this place for heaping plate of food and a cheap cheap price. Definitely try them on a Thursday for the Soup of the Day...absolutelty awesome
One of the worst meals I've ever had at a restaurant. First of all, I happen to be Colombian and let me tell you, there is nothing authentic about this place except for the fact that the waiters can speak Spanish. But besides that, I was really disappointed with the food. Food portions are very small. Rice and beans are undercooked so you end up biting on uncooked pieces of rice here and there when you're chewing. The environment is poor. Cheap decor, flimsy tables that rock back and forth and being that the place has a lot of windows that are old, cold air leaks in so it feels almost as if you're eating outside! Overall, just bad! Save the aggravation.
