I've been getting my hair done here for over 5 years. Although it's very busy and seems chaotic they definitely know what they are doing. Everytime I go I meet people who travel in from out of state and long distances in NYS. This will be the best money you ever spend.
This Place is AMAZING. I would recommend it to everyone. The one and only place people should go.
I have been researching getting my hair straightened for about two years now. Let me just say that my mother and I got that MAI Straightening done in Manhattan for $300.00; this is before I did my research, and it didn't do anything beside make my hair a little relaxed and then wore off after two weeks and my moms wore off after three. After that experience I was a little sketchy about getting my hair straightened again and wasting my money and my mothers. I found this little place called hair village that uses a product called Liscio straightening which is better than the yuko straightening. Liscio straightening can change its strength depending on your hair type. With the yuko system it is done in one strength type and thats it.
My hair was just done at hair village 4 days ago and I just washed it for the first time. It is still as pin straight as when I left. I didn't think it would stay straight after my first experience.
The first thing they do is wash your hair, put the chemicals in, wash it out, don't worry your hair won't be silky yet; it will be puffy and not soft. Once they blow dry your hair and iron it then they put a nutrilizer in your hair, then wash it out. Once they wash it out your hair is pin straight; all they do is blow dry it and quickly go over it with an iron. You can't wash your hair for 3 days and you have to wear it down without putting your hair behind your ears and without any clips or hair ties. If you do this your hair will stay perfectly pin straight.
I never thought that me and my mom would have amazing hair. Do yourself a favor and go to this place. It is the best.
By the way is cost 150 for my moms hair and 160 for mine and there is a mandatory 25-30 dollar tip. Just pay it and don't be cheap. They do a lot of work and have 4 people working on your hair. If you complain the boss will tell you not to come back; it really is an insult for the great products they use, the amount of time they spend on your hair, and the life changing results. If this was done elsewhere with the liscio products it would cost between 500 -1000 dollars.
Actually I was talking to a lady inside hair village as I was waiting and she said she went to a place on long island and spent 500 to get the Japanese straightening and they fried her hair. Her daughter wanted to get her hair done because her daughters friend has been going there and her hair came out amazing. So finally this lady let her daughter come to hair village and her daughters hair came out amazing. GO HERE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.
Highly Recommended-Hair village: I have to say that I was very concerned with straightening my hair before I did it. I researched a lot about it and spoke to a few of my friends who have used hair village. After finally building up the courage i went down to hair village to get my hair done. I thought that worse comes to worse I can just grow it out and I will do whatever I have to to help with the breakage that I thought I would have. After about 5 hours I left the salon and its 6 months later and I couldnt be happier. My hair used to be REALLY curly and would take me at least 15 minutes in the morning to get ready with all the products that I put in. Now I don't even have to blow dry my hair and I just walk out of the shower and am ready to go. I had little to no breakage. I go to a very shnazzy salon to get my hair cut and dyed and they were all very shocked with the results of my hair. They had never seen anything like it and for the price they were more than impressed. Two of my other friends have been using Hair Village for a few years now and have never had any complaints either. In fact when I first met them I had no clue that their hair wasnt naturally stick straight. I highly recommend hair village for your japanese straightening!
