I've lived on Long Island all of my life and have been to many bagel shops. Some are fancy (with fancy prices) and some are plain (with plain food). Heavenly Bagels is small -- nothing more than a few tables, a dairy case at the rear and a long glass case filled with baked goods. But simply put, this shop delivers on its namesake's promise. The bagels are, indeed, heavenly. Crispy on the outside, moist and soft on the inside, they make a great companion to any of the many freshly made spreads available. A specialty is the French Toast bagel which is only produced in limited quantities, so grab it when you see it. I like it lightly toasted with a smear of blueberry cream cheese. I'm also keen on the olive spread which is creamy and not overly salty. The shop also offers freshly made egg sandwiches, a selection of tasty baked goods and let's not forget the coffee...ahhhh....always fresh, hot and delicious. You know a place is good when people ask, "Where did you get these bagels?" and that's exactly what happens every time I treat my colleagues to breakfast. Give it a try!
