*****5 stars/A+/ whatever you want to call it...JUST GO THERE!!!*****
I picked up my Easter order (which was my 3rd time in the store) and was thrilled to have my filet mignon, smoked ham and leg of lamb all ready to go into the oven... The cooking instructions were PERFECT on all three pieces of meat and my filet and leg were seasoned perfectly --- They even gave me a pop up timer in both! (just in case...) I mean, I didn't have to do a thing!!! And the best part was that all of my company had a choice and I looked like a real pro!
Anyway, while I was picking up my order, I was talking with another customer and she was telling me that normally she has her food delivered, but she wanted to come in that day because she didn't know what she wanted to get ideas... UMMM... Hello?!?!? did she say delivered??? Okay, I order what I want, its ready to go into the oven AND NOT HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE? Does it get any better??? I guess I'll pass the 2 other stores get to My (new) Butcher! (or, Ill have it delivered!)
For Christmas we ordered a chateaubriand with a salt, pepper, garlic rub. I have never cooked one before and was nervous spending $170 on something I never cooked. On the phone AND in the shop the guys told me to let it sit out for 2 hours to get to room temperature and then cook it for 30 minutes for rare and 34 minutes for well done. Directions like that are so specific, I figured they knew what they were doing. And the meat in the tin they gave it to me in had rosemary twigs and some other leafy herb, so I didn't question the meat rub.
On Christmas, I followed their directions, prepared all my other side dishes to be ready for when the chateaubriand would come out of the oven. Well, we took it out after 32 minutes and it was raw. We ended up cooking it for 55 minutes, dinner was late, guests needed to leave to get to other houses, dessert guests were arriving during dinner, and my side dishes were all cold. ANd to top it off there was NO flavoring on the meat at all. NO salt, no pepper, no garlic. NOTHING.
I have since tested my oven with a thermometer and it is fine. Cakes, breads, cookies, chicken, other meats come out fine according to their directions. We called My Butcher II a few days after Christmas and all that was said was "We're sorry for your inconvenience." There was no remorse, nothing. It was very insulting.
The only reason I did give two stars instead of one is that the meat was extremely tender if you're into very rare beef or tartare. I was excited about finding a good butcher - this was not it.
My First 5 Star Review!: Listen, the best I have ever given is 3 stars, and reluctantly at that. So, five stars from me really means something.
My Butcher (II) is fabulous. The service is probably the best I've had anywhere. The food they stock is consistently good, and the variety for a butcher is great. Not only can you pick up meat ect here, but they have many "deli" type foods too. Plus, you can find fruit, veggies, bread, sweets, and seafood.
Overall one of the best places to shop on the island (Long Island, not Maui)...
If there was a 5+ Star level these guys would get it. Go here!

FYI... I don't know what this chick did, but I cooked my stuff EXACTLY the way the butchers said to and it came out AWESOME!!! I think that they were extremely helpful and knew a lot about the products they had.
this is the only bad review i have ever heard about this place. maybe its just incompetence in the kitchen? my butcher is amazing!
and by "incompetence" i mean you know nothing about cooking because cooking time for large items are given PER POUND. so, it was 30 minutes PER POUND. they are an amazing place, don't put them down because you are stupid.
