Went here for Valentine's Day, and the food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Arrived on time for a 6:30 reservation and were shown to our table immediately. Dining room is intimate and yes, tables are close, but not claustrophobic close. Evening began with fresh, hot, crusty bread, a "Guiness" for myself and a grapefruit martini, which was outstanding, for my girlfriend.
I had the tart apple salad, mixed greens with tart apple slices, candied walnuts and amazingly creamy blue cheese chunks, in a black sesame dressing. My girlfriend had the sweet onion and goat cheese tart. Both dishes were fantastic. Main course, black angus filet, mine prepared perfectly medium, girlfriend had hers butterflied and well done. Both pieces were juicy, tender and well flavored; one of the best steaks I've had in some time. Served with creamy home made mashed potatoes and demi-glaze reduction, this was one great steak.
For dessert, my girlfriend had the chocolate mousse bombe' with home made coffee ice cream, while I chose the ice cream sampler with fresh berries. Both of us were happy with our choices.
Overall, a great romantic location, wonderful food, good service, a spot that's just right for that special occasion. Price fixe menu for V-Day was $75 per person, and I felt it was fair for what we received. Highly recommended.
Great food, generally horrible front end service.
The food here is excellent, albeit a little overpriced.
Be prepared to be upset if you make a reservation. I've been here six or seven times and generally have to wait 20 minutes or so past my res to be seated.
The restaurant is small and there are only two or three tables I'd consider "good". Most tables are by the door, too close to one another, or up against the obscenely small rest room.
High points, beyond the consistently great food, are the wine (champagne) list and the occasional excellent waiter.
Good on winter week-nights, when there aren't any crowds. Avoid La Plage in the summer on Friday and Saturday nights.
P.S. I highly recommend ending your meal with a glass of Hennessey Paradis, which La Plage stocks. It's generally hard to find elsewhere.
My boyfriend took me here for a romantic dinner and it was amazing. We went at night under the stars. They told us that we would have to sit inside, which meant that we were under the covering of the outside bar, lol. The food was great, the people were very friendly and the sound was beautiful. It really is difficult to find a wonderful restaurant such as this not only in Wading River but on LI. I would most definately go back.
