| About: | Until 1980, when The Laundry Restaurant first opened, most East Hampton eateries were either of the fast food variety or stodgy American cuisine. The Laundry was an instant success with the local residents as well as the summer crowd by pioneering the kind of imaginative, versatile and high quality cafe fare that has since become a staple of restaurants that followed. Taking its name from the original steam laundry that operated at the same site in the early 1900s, the Laundry has succeeded in developing a loyal following among artists, writers and other local celebrities. Executive Chef Andrew Engle brings a variety of culinary influences to create farm-fresh, creative American cuisine with regional twists, and seemingly integrates our wood burning oven creating unique succulent dishes. We proudly support the local farms, fishermen, and vineyards of Eastern Long Island. |
