Deli Plus

This is a unique place. Not quite a deli, not quite a resturant, not quite a convience store, but all of the same. It has sufficient seating to qualify as a resturant and should be listed as one too.

The heart of Deli Plus is their deli counter. Obviously, it has all of cold cuts, salads, etc that you would expect there. The cooked sandwiches and foods is where it really stands out. Any of the standard grilled sandwiches are available. Well made, heaped and made proto.

Nine time out of ten, I go in there for their fried chicken. This is not KFC, but a genuine small town treasure! Everyone I have introduced to their chicken dig it. Then there are their potato logs. To the best of my knowlege (and I search) this is the only place in eastern NY that has genuine southern made potato logs.

Consider their chicken and potato log take out special. Good for lunch or dinner. A little salad cup is thrown in too, but you are really interested in the chicken and potatoes.

On Thursday and Friday, they are doing fish fries too. What a bodacious fish fry. Genuine haddock about a foot long. Those are one of the best fish fries in the Albany area. They are snapped up. They usually sell out before the end of the day.

Great for lunch or a take out chicken dinner. Many workers from GE and the Conrail yard drive in for lunch (they are several miles away). Expect to see a state trooper chowing down too. Troopers get around and know where to stop into for a quick bite.
