| About: | For nearly a century, Jack's has been an integral part of Albany's landscape. Long considered the hot spot for politicians and the famous, Jack's ambiance is reminiscent of the clubby New York style restaurants so in vogue today. Opened in 1913 by Jack Rosenstein, the restaurant has been continuously operated by the same family and is now under the direction of grandson, Brad. In his pursuit of excellence, Brad persuaded Certified Master Chef Dale Miller, one of only 60 in the United States, to combine their talents to create the ultimate dining experience. Any restaurant that has seafood in the title is a favorite of mine, yet I was not expecting this. My fiancee and I decided to go out for a nice dinner and treat ourselves. What a treat! Although slightly pricey, well worth every penny. I had the seafood trio which included scallops, cod, and red snapper. Each fish was moist and cooked perfectly. Even the vegetables were perfect. I had never eaten raw oysters before, make sure you try some. I'm a complete fan now. So great! I ordered a glass of pinot noir with my meal ($10) and the glass was huge it lasted me the entire dinner. Five stars is right Jack!
A solid and classy dining experience: Jack's is a very well established Albany restaurant - est. 1913. The service is sharp and professional, all staff are polite and friendly, and the ambience is a combination of an old-style restaurant and a mens' club (the wood paneled walls help with this!). The food is done well and the menu, while largely unimaginative, offers a range of steak, chicken, game, fish and seafood options. The menu is neither too long nor too short. Food quality is very high. This is probably the best option for a great meal and dining experience for a special occasion in Albany NY. Enjoy!
