The atmosphere and service are fantastic. The candy variety is impressive, from the predictable chocolates to the fruit slices, jelly beans, fudge, and fun-shaped chocolates. The prices are noteworthy - for custom candy, you're only paying $5 a lb on the fruit slices, $12/lb on the chocolates - about 50¢ a piece for truffles when normally a truffle in a nice shop is about $2. The drawback is the lack of subtlety in the taste - many are artificial and strong. The ingredient list will show you less than top notch selections- artificial flavors including the typical use of vanallin vs. vanilla, cheap sugar vs. cane... However, if you're not a chocolate snob it's well worth visiting to see if the flavors work for you (they are generous with samples if you're not sure). The chocolate itself is smooth in texture and complex enough for the casual hobbyist. I for one like a flavor that kicks me in the teeth and many of the fruit and coffee flavored centers deliver a wallop. I was in Albany on travel and gave them my first try - I'll be returning next time I'm in town!
Its ok but.....: I liked their buttercrunch but its not as good as The Peanut Principle's on Rt 9 in Latham. Their pretty good all around but definately second to The Peanut Principle. It just doesnt have that candy store feel more like a walmart of candy
