What an incredible find!: I had just read the review (below) and coincidentally had dinner at the Peekamoose the same weekend. I found the food to be incredible, the ambiance uniquely cozy yet stylish, and I found the service the most professional in the Catskills, if not all of New York. My server guided my husband through a wine selection with grace, humor, information, sensitivity and style. How amazed we were at the careful attentions of all staff involved. The owner/hostess was gracious and attentive. The busboy even escorted us to our car during a down-pour! I asked my husband if we could buy a second-home in the area, just because a place like this exists! Oh, and the braised beef short ribs are an absolute must have! And check out the bar at some point - it's too cool! Josh, the bartender was awesome!
Wonderful Food--Challenging Wait Staff: The owners of this Rest are fantastic and talented NYC seasoned chefs and restauranters--however some of the wait staff are defensive, too young and inexperienced. We've had several wonderful meals here but too often the wait staff acted harried and annoyed--this was too bad as we always tipped well each time. Also, many of the beautiful wood tables rock and are uneven so you may be "see sawing" through your meal--The atmosphere is beautifully lighted and a newly re-done patio and fire pit add to the feeling of a lodge--very tastefully done. The wonderfully baked foccacia with garlic at the beginning of the meal was exquisite--the desserts could have more variety with less emphasis on gourmet as many dishes are heavy meat--wonderful Vegatarian dishes using keenwah and other delcious seasonings---booked most weekends with a hostess that often seems fatigued--but otherwise the best place to eat in the Big Indian/ Phonecia area.
I went to eat there once a week until I moved out: Love the food, the service, the ambience and you certainly got value.
