I love this place! in the summer you can't beat it, the patio is beautiful and they have a fantastic outside bar. The food is very good but it's nothing fancy. I have never had a bad meal and the staff is always friendly.
I'VE BEEN HERE ON MANY OCCASIONS...I'D SAY 4 OUT OF 5 TIMES THE SERVICE HAS BEEN GOOD, AND 5 OUT OF 5 TIMES THE FOOD HAS BEEN GOOD...
I REALLY wanted to like this place...: I have been to this establishment several times and always seem to leave with rather mixed feelings. First, the food is pretty much what you would expect, but not much beyond medicore. Second, it is a bit pricey when you consider serving sizes and what you don't get for your money. The service is also inconsistent and ranges from being fairly good, to very poor. For the price, one would expect higher caliber wait staff that are certainly more personable. As far as ambiance, it is quite nice and has a rustic feel. I especially liked the large, high-backed booth settings since they are very private (and thus great for romantic dining). Going back to wait staff, which impacts the ambiance, the Hostess that greeted me was wearing an extremly short and tight mini-skirt which was distasteful for the setting. Moreover, the location is very clsoe to Onondaga Lake, but no matter where you're seated, you cannot see the lake while you dine. Overall, the place just seems to have an 'identity' issue and they really need to reconsider what type of restaurant they want to be and then stick to it. Personally, I would get take-out elsewhere and simply walk to the lake and enjoy my meal there - the scenery is much improved and you'll save yourself some dough. I really wanted to like this place, because it has possibilities and for some crazy reason, I keep going back hoping the place will eventually prove me wrong.
