best mushrooms ever: the food is terrific,along with the service and hospitality.the stuffed portabella mushroms are a must.i travel from kent,ct. whenever i can just for those. the prme rib also excellent.thats about a three hour ride.the owners are the chefs and they are delightful.i would highly recommend the charter house to veryone.the prices are reasonable, too!bring your old car liscense plate they have a collection on the wall. i left one there.awesome place!!!

best restaurant for miles: The atmophsfere(sp) is nice, the service is great! I like escargo, and this is a must for snail lovers! This is a rare gem for the small town of Fort Plain-so glad it is here!

Excellent place to eat: Here is an old fashioned all around great place to enjoy a dinner meal. Soft lighting and kind service staff make it an enjoyable experience. Went for the Valentine's Day dinner and it was great. Dessert is HUGE!! I recommend this restaurant. Sad that it is for sale, though...
