The store is nice, the people are friendly and the workers are pretty quick. I decided to walk around to the bay to watch my car being worked on as I am very protective over it. I watched my new wheels being put on and my jaw dropped when I noticed they were using the impact to tighten my lug nuts! In case you didn't know, the pneumatic impact is very powerful and is for removing the lugs only. I took the car home and torqued all of the lugs to spec myself. Some lugs were around 80 lbs/ft and others at 130 (they're supposed to be 125 ft/lbs according to spec). I am actually glad I saw this so that something didn't get damaged later on. It really makes me wonder why I even went to these guys in the first place considering I bought wheels online from a separate retailer and only had Cheney Tire install them.
Edit: Update. I talked to the guys at Cheney Tire and they claim that they used a torque stick (which I didn't see them use) which torqued them to 100 ft/lbs. Even if this was true, it still isn't the required amount of torque (125 lbs/ft.)
cheney tire is the ''big apple music'' of auto repair. they are WAY overpriced, and are the kinda place thats always busy, so they feel like they dont have to treat their customers in any special way. alot of local lemmings go there because they are right in the middle of town and have a nice store front, as opposed to an old dirty garage on the back road or something, but you pay for that prime real estate in some really expensive labor and parts.
if your looking to get a car with oversized wheels and/or tires alligned.. dont believe them if they tell you they are the only place in town that can do oversized wheel allignments, mounting, and balancing. they arent.
