Lupino's Trackside Tavern

Terrible night at the Trackside. Had a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. It took a good five minutes before anyone came & greeted us, or asked us for our name/reservation time. We were just left standing there at the doorway. That should have been the first sign of a bad night to come. Our reservation was for 6:30, we did not get seated until 6:45, then were told our menus would be given to us "as soon as some were available"...what kind of restaurant doesn't have enough menus! After our menus came to us, a waitress did not show to our table until another 20 minutes later !! She was unprepared to take our order & had to rip a piece of the placemat on the next table to write down our order. Talk about tacky. Things only got progressively worse as the night went on...wrong dinner order, undercooked meat, misinformed on a dinner price (were told it cost $21, when in fact, on bill it was $28) and terrible service, overall. Granted it was Valentine's Day evening, but the restaurant should have been more prepared than that. They knew well enough in advance how many customers they will be serving, as almost everyone had a reservation !! Definitely will not be returning there again for any other meals & will be telling others of this experience.

The Trackside is definitely one of Utica's top restaurants. John Lupino is an oustanding chef!! The food is always very delicious, and the service is the best!! The restaurant is very pretty, cozy and romantic, and always very clean. The hostess and the waiters are always very friendly and accommodating.

Terrible Time at the Trackside Tavern: This was the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at!!! We had reservations and when we got there they did not have a table ready. When they seated us we had to get our own chairs and bread plates. My boyfriend had to get the water pitcher and pour our own water. It took over an hour for the salads to come. The food was presented poorly. The entree's said that they came with a side of pasta. The waitress brought out three soup bowls for 8 of us with pasta in it and said that it was family style. We were there for over two hours. We had to get up to leave to get our check. When the staff were told of the terrible service they were incredibly rude and unapologetic. They said that they were slammed and had only two waitresses. However, I saw many tables open, the bar had only one person at it and there was the two waitresses, the hostess, the busboy, and the bartender. The food wasn't that good or hot for that matter. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever!!!
