I have to tell you that out of the time I've spent in this area, there are not many businesses that have opened and fully thrived. Fred's Inn is first and foremost a Family style Restaraunt. It is located on route 12, south of Norwich. Fred's is one of those places that you keep close to your heart and return to time and time again. The people who work there are amazing. If your from out of town or just stopping through, stay a night. You'll be glad you did. If you expect to be treated like royalty, go to the Hilton. This is where you will get A class food for a pretty decent price. I took my mother there for her birthday recently and she loved it. They have everything from burgers to filet mignon. From peel and eat shrimp to a full breakfast buffet. Oh and there belgian waffle is a staple! It's worth every penny!
I also agree with the other reviewer about the Maison Blanche bakery. They do have emaculate taste. Anything from a pastry to a sandwich or even a loaf of bread. They know how to work magic. This bakery is actually located to the right of a Walmart Super Center, which is less than a 5 minute drive from Fred's Inn. If while staying at Fred's Inn something arises, or if your needs call for something out of the ordinary, your set! The only way for you to know yourself is to go and check it out. I'd say go for it!
Nice place!: The rooms that we had were very nice and comfortable. It was great to have the added convenience of a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The only problem that we had was the showers weren't cleaned everyday and the room wasn't vacuumed everyday either. Other than that, I would recommend it to anyone.
Oh, and if you do stay there, you must try the MAISON BLANCHE bakery just down the road. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. I can't express in words just how tremendous this bakery is. The cheese croissant. ABSOLUTE HEAVEN.
