recommended by tour guide as passing through town. Almost didn't go due to unfavorable reviews. It was excellent. Fine food, great service. Very attractive decor.
I recently booked a party of 17 at Fortuna's. The food was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful. Unfortunately the service was not. I was told that we would have 3 waitresses attending us. We arrived at 6:30pm and our drink order was taken and our meals were ordered. No one came to check on our water or take additional drink orders. It wasnt until 7:30pm that we finally got bread. My guests were so hungry they devoured the bread. Some of my quests threatened to leave. We then let the waitress know that we would like to order additional drinks and she tolds us abruptly that she would be right back, then went about taking care of her other customers. It was not until our main course was being served that we were told of a problem back in the kitchen. We understand they were busy and we do not blame the waitresses. Management knew we were coming and they should have made sure there was enough staff on hand to handle the situation. I would recommend the restaurant for a party of 4 but not a large party such as mine.
My wife and I grew up in the Niagara area. Fortuna's (once upon a time The Deluxe) is one of our favorite restaurants. We make a point of visiting every time we are in the area.
