It is one of the largest freestanding breast imaging centers in the US, and is the largest single-site breast imaging center in New York State. EWBC is ACR Accredited and FDA Certified and is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). With major technical advancements being made in the field, the patient volume and size of EWBC has made it an attractive clinical study setting for manufacturers of breast imaging modalities and accessories. EWBC has participated with the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) in several breast imaging studies, including the Digital Mammography Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST) which compared the efficacy of full-field digital mammography with film/screen mammography, and the MRI Evaluation of the Contralateral Breast in Women with a Recent Diagnosis of Breast Cancer.
