Atmosphere was excellent. A nice place to bring friends or guest because it is quiet enough to have a reasonable conversation and hear each other. The food was delicious. Our waiter was asked if one enrtry was spicy. He indicated it was on the spicy side. Our friend did not take this caution to heart and found that her dish, though quite fine otherwise, was more spicy than she would have preferred. The wait staff was ever vigilent and quick to refill water and clear plates. Our meals were served in a friendly efficient manner and the deserts were exceptional.
Owners were on hand and most gracious and pleasant. For a pleasant dining experience in a convienient location that combines an upscale atmosphere with the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant and food that is well prepared and served, you can't beat Phillips European.
I canât believe thereâs a professional chef running this kitchen or participating at any cooking station. Not only is the menu ill-conceived, they just donât seem to have a clue about how food should be prepared.
The service isnât any more professional than the kitchen staff, and the décor is as frumpy as it gets.
The desserts are supposed to be the strong point. I can only comment on the German chocolate cake I tried. It tasted nothing of chocolate, coconut nor pecan. Rather, it was simply overly sweet; like eating a bowl of sugar.
Perhaps I wouldnât be so harsh if the place didnât take itself so seriously. This place makes one wonder if people in Rochester know anything of good food or fine dining. Itâs so bad it gives the city a black eye. Everyone would be better of if it would just go out of business.
Nice atmospher, expensive, great cakes. Good food.
