User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWecannot say enough good things about the Beef-n-Barrel Restaurant in Olean. We travel every year specifically to enjoy the wonderful hot Beef and homemade gravy! Because we live so far away we also order gravy to take home to enjoy later. The service has always been outstanding and the desserts make it so hard to decide. We know anyone who tries this wonderful place will be back again no matter how far you have to travel. Wish they would move near us!! A 5 star restaurant without any stretch! Keep up the great cooking!

I have enjoyed eating out at the Beef 'n' Barrel for years, and have never been disappointed. The quality of the food is excellent, with the beef always "tops". It is definitely not for the diet-conscious, and the portions are generous. The service is always competent and amiable, and I enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, the decor, and the consistently delicious home-made soups and desserts. We like to treat our guests to an affordable but "special" meal where we know we'll be courteously treated.

The Beef-N-Barrel restaurant is lucky they do not have much competition in Olean because they would be in trouble. For the money, the food it sub-par and the service is worse. The host is rude and has zero personality. Our salad bowls sat on the table even after entrees were served and all dishes sat on the table even as dessert was brought out. For a place that is called "The Beef", the signature beef dinner was cold and dry from being overcooked. I think they know there are not many other places to go and have become to comfortable. I had not been in town for a few years and this is one place I wish I would have skipped. For a so called "good place", they are simply, AWFUL!!!!!!

Just wanted to respond to this poor review. If things where that bad during your meal, you should have brought it to our attention then and there. It is hard to correct problems after the fact.
I have been eating there for 25 years. Always a great meal with great service. Thats why the place is always packed. C. Ash
We visit every year with our friends. We come from near Niagara Falls and have found this to be the most consistently wonderful place to eat. We only wish it was nearer to us. Due to allergy they always take a phone request from us a few days ahead and have yet to forget! If you had asked to see the manager the day you were there they would have made it right, I'm positive. We think you should give it another try. We've yet to ever experience poor service or bad food even when they are extremely busy -- which speaks volumes itself!!
