The food is always spot on- I suggest trying the daily specials. The drinks are some of the best I've ever had especially the boatyard bloody mary. It is a very busy place on the weekend so I suggest going early or during the week.
The view makes the wait time seem much shorter.

This restaurant has the best food in Ithaca. The menu is very diverse, you can get a salad, or a cheeseburger (10oz. and YUMMY!!), or you can get a very nice piece of Filet Mignon, as well as some pretty good seafood items. The atmosphere is, warm and inviting, the views are to die for. The service is spectacular and always with a smile and a friendly hello! I highly recommend eating here or just come in for a drink and sit at the bar for some very unique drink items.

Have a boat, drive a BMW? Then this overrpriced and crowded place is for you. If you actually like quality food then I would suggest somewhere else. The restaurant is usually packed beyond the fire code by people looking to get drunk on wine. To get to the tables one must walk by the bar (which has some amazing bartenders) that is usually 4 or 5 people deep. The journey should take about 15 minutes. When you are seated, your waiter/waitress must navigate through the mess of inebriated blue bloods to get your drinks. This slows down service to a molasses like halt. I have only had one dish at the Boatyard which I enjoyed, the other times I have found my food to be undercooked and generally lacking for the price tag.

If you happen to get be eating there when its not crowded it can be an amazing dinner granted that you order the correct things. The atmosphere really lowers my overall feelings for the restaurant.
It does have redeeming qualities in some dishes, but its really hit or miss. The bar and wait staff do try very hard to make your dinner pleasurable but crowded interior (due to pointless wooden stands and other fixtures) makes it feel like a sardine can at times.

I completely disagree, it is always a place where anyone can feel comfortable and enjoy the atmpsphere. It however is a busy place on the weekends and if you don't like to wait then go early and or during the week.

I also completely disagree with this review. My friends and I LOVE the Boatyard! Is it a little expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. And it is for EVERYONE, not just people with a ton of money. My friends and I always pick the Boatyard for special occasions, or when we're just looking to spend an evening out together. The drinks are great, the food is even better, and the desserts, well, just make sure you save room, because they are worth it (I personally recommend the Pineapples Foster). I moved out of the area a while ago, and am actually planning to have dinner at the Boatyard when I get back in town! :)
