We have eeating here for almost as long as they have been open. Well over 20 years, I'm sure. Great food!! When there is an event at the Clemens Center or the First Arena, we dine here to have close parking to the event and of course THAT is a great EXCUSE to have a great meal. One complaint, though. Our favorite waiter is no longer there. We have been to 22 states & eaten at countless restaurants. Kevin was BY FAR THE BEST WAITER WE HAVE EVER HAD!!!
It is a shame that He and Dennis, the owner can't get together & work out whatever went wrong. Kevin was there 16 years & was ONE of the reasons we kept returning there!
Om-nom-nom-nom. :)
When my husband and I moved to the area from Queens this place saved us from a Chinese dining nightmare. He and I were used to being able to order the best of the best in Queens and we sincerely thought that we'd not be able to have decent Chinese food until we returned to the City for a visit. Then we went to Beijing Garden. That was ten years ago. We're still going. Nearly everything on the menu is excellent, but my favorite is the Hot and Sour Soup. There's nothing like sitting in the cozy back room, watching snowflakes fall, and sipping on the thick, spicy, fragrant soup. I honestly don't have a favorite among the other dishes. They are all good.
With the exception of one man who worked there in 2000 (oh, he was so grumpy all the time!) or so, the staff have all been pleasant and and some, charming. The decor is a bit on the heavy side, but it's old fashioned and cozy, really. It's typical of older places of this type. The thickly laid colors and tapestries add an extra "hush" and sense of privacy that so many new and 'modern' places lack.
The review below which says "nasty" is simply not accurate. I've been going to Beijing Garden for ten years now and can honestly say that it's a wonderful place to dine.
this is the best place for Chinese food in the area. I absolutely love it!
