Can't wait to get my kids out: Clairton School District is behind in a lot of things. The biggest problem is that there is no bus transportation for any of the school children. The school is just throwing kids into things without remembering that not much of anything was taught to the kids in the first place. I feel the school failed me years ago by not challenging my knowledge. That is why if you have the chance to pull your children work hard to get them out.

Ebony M., I have no idea if you are ever going to read this or if you have already taken your kids out of the school district. I grew up in Clairton, went to the Clairton Education Center K-12, and on to undergrad and grad school. I had teachers who saw potential in me and pushed me to be the person I am today, this began with Mrs. Wiggins and continued on till I graduated (still today if I see one of my teachers, encouragement still exist.). I was not exactly the easiest child to get along with either, but not one teacher I had given up on me. Also, you as a parent cannot put everything on the school. Parents need to recognize that learning does not end when the last bell of the day rings, but it is continuous throughout the day. You as a parent need to reinforce what your child has learned throughout the day in school at home. Living in a structured environment also helps a child in school. It fails me to understand how you can say that you were not challenged in school. The question is were you challenged by the school and did not see your potential and challenge yourself to be the best you can be? We can not blame our faults or laziness on these teachers. In that, while you "can't wait" to get your kids out, I am thanking my teachers for helping my parents mold me into the person I am today.
