The Pines Tavern

I have recommended Pines Tavern in the past and will continue to do so. I visited the other night and everyone in our group of four enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere is always great, waitress was friendly, service was prompt and the food is always good, with generous portions. I will definitely go back

While our experience wasn't as bad as the other yahoo raters, it certainly wasn't good. We waited for what seemed like an eternity for our first and second round of drinks. I have been to thousands of restaurants, and I don't think I've ever had a waitress as bad as the one we had last night. When drinks finally did arrive, some of them were there and some of them weren't. They didn't clear the appetizers before serving our entrees. In fact, we were busing our own table most of night by placing our used glasses and dishes on the next table, which thankfully was not occupied. Even Bob Evans does a better job of taking care of their guests. The meals were good, but I think the chef needs to read a definition of "medium-rare". Overall, for the price we paid for food and drink, we expected much better service. It appears that guests have been having similar experiences for years. Perhaps a change in management is needed. Nevertheless, I will not be dining at the Pines Tavern ever again.

The hostess is not pleasant. The restaurant was more than half empty but when we asked for a certain table were told it was not available. Two hours later there still was no one sitting there.

We had been to this restaurant many times before and although the service was never great the food was wonderful. However, we sat for 15 minutes before even seeing a waitress and continued to wait and wait. First for water, then for drinks, then for wine glasses for our wine and then for her to finally take our order. It just dragged on and on and the waitress did a disappearing act in between. After 2 hours we still had no dinner. We told her we wanted to see the owner. She went into the kitchen and returned and told us that he would not come out because he wa "having issues". We were outreaged by this attitude. One of the other waitresses just shook her head and stated "this happens all the time".

Well it won't happen to us again. We have supported this restaurant and recommended it to others in the past. The poor service was secondary to the restaurant's poor management and lack of concern for their customers.
