User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsNeeds more inventory and a friendlier staff than what it has now. Other than that, for all the taxes that are taken out of the pay around this area, and the amount of money moving in, you would think that this library would be bigger. It does have a computer lab, and some activities for people of all ages; but I highly recommend more people start giving to this library since Shaler Township obviously isn't doing much for it.

The opinion ( posted 10/16/07) paints a very distorted picture of the Shaler North Hills Library. Naturally one could say it needs more staff and inventory. Which library doesn't? A library must stay up to date with the cuirrent times, and no place ever has enough staff! I know people who have been using the library for 30 years or more, who do not live in Shaler, and still use the Shaler North Hills Librarry. It was one of the frist libraries in the area. The staff members are very professional, courteous, knowable, friendly and helpful. Ask the citizens of Shaler, who are very proud of their library and it's reputation as one the best libraries in the North Hills.
We love out library! I only know of 1 staff person who is unfriendly & we just ignore her! My children & I go to the library almost daily!!!! My oldest daughter used to go the library after school almost every day. They have lots of programs for the whole family including book discussions, storytimes & a summer reading program. FOR the size, they do quite well. Where else can you check out current movies for a week for FREE! Tell that to Netflix or Blockbuster!!!!!
