| About: | The newly opened O'Reilly Theatre was designed by architect Michael Graves and is now the home of the Pittsburgh Public Theatre. The glass and stone structure lights up Penn Avenue, which is decorated by modern outdoor sculptures; the 650-seat theater inside is designed in the "thrust configuration," meaning seats surround three sides of the stage. This arrangement lends for a very intimate theater experience. The Pittsburgh Public Theatre hosts classic productions, such as Shakespeare's "Macbeth," and more modern entertainment such as Chicago's famous comedy troupe, The Second City. |
