Ok ok calm down you nut jobs who don't understand Beto's style. First off this stuff is a Pittsburgh staple for anyone who grew up in this area.
Yeah I get that it is cold, and the cheese is raw, but it is done that way on purpose. You can't travel too far when ordering this pizza, you either have to eat it in the car, or live around the corner, or eat it there to get it hot.
Next, the raw cheese melts a tiny bit and all I can say is that it is unique. Don't come here if you are expecting normal pizza, but the reason why we love this stuff is that the sauce tastes like tomatos, the cheese isn't melted fully, the price is right, and above all it is yummy.
Stay away if you are looking for traditional pizza, but come and enjoy if you have an open mind about this square cut beautiful pizza.
My last word for those detractors is that Beto's has been open longer than I have been alive (34) so they must be doing something right.
grew up on Beto's not knowing there was any other kind of pizza. I now eat almost any pizza, but the few times I can get back to the 'Burgh to visit family, it's a necessity. If driving, I go there before I get to my dad's; flying, I make him take me straight from the airport. And they serve CUTS, not slices, and the best to ask for are the reheats. The crust is crisper than the fresh. For those who commented on atmosphere, it used to be JUST take-out. Now, if you are lucky enuf to get a seat, you eat it piping hot with the contrast of the cold cheese. But if you take it home, the box makes that cheese melt. Only problem: if you live more than 5minutes away..... well, then you have reheats!(gotta have a pizza stone)
Used to go there after the HS football games in 1962. Good to see its still in business.
