There is a lot to like about this Mineo's. For
one they sell pizza by the slice or by the pie.
For another they have regular pizza and Sicilian
style. For you 'night owls' this place is great as
they serve til 2:00 AM on weekends. I think
they are also open til 1:00 AM on weekdays. Where
else can you go at that hour to satisfy your pizza
urge? They also have lots of other italian dishes
like a variety of meatball dishes and yes even a
wide range of hoagies. The food is good, but late
night it even tastes better.
Best Pizza In Pittsburgh: Beware of the Mineo's on West Liberty Avenue in Dormont - this is not that Mineo's. This is the one on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. This one gives you tons and tons of cheese! If you like a cheesy pizza or cheesy anything, then this is the best Italian joint around. Two or three different kinds of cheese on the traditional red pizza. None of that bacon-textured fake sausage like you get at Papa John's and crummier mom-and-pop places - Mineo's gives you nice big chunks of bulk sausage, you know, the real stuff. And the calzones must weigh three pounds because of all of the ricotta - bring your appetite or two or three friends to knock one of those off. Another thing I love about Mineo's is that everything's made in an open kitchen - right in front of you - not in some back room where they're doing who knows what. Good service, too - if they make a rare mistake, they always accommodate. Very professional. Not a bunch of teenage punks looking to play a prank. Not the best place to eat in, but it is relatively kid (and adult) friendly. I always take out. It's not cheap, like most chains, but you do get what you pay for at Mineo's.
I don't think so: This place rests on the reputation of Squirrel Hill Mineo's circa 1970s. The pizza is frankly below average at best. Hoagies are OK. Even Papa John's makes better pizza. That's sad.
