| About: | Pittsburghers are getting a taste of Brazil thanks to the Green Forest Brazilian Restaurant. The restaurant grills meat in a rotisserie style that is popular in Brazil. There is a large salad bar and a long steam table containing everything from rice to beans, and even spaghetti with clam sauce. The waiters will bring grilled meat and slice it at the table. The menu usually features 10 cuts of beef, chicken, pork, sausage and turkey. There is live music Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm to midnight. |

This is one of my absolute fovorite spots to eat. It is BYOB and the server will gladly uncork and ice your bottle if need be. The selection of meats varies and will generally come to the table rare to medium rare. However, if requested thew server will make every attempt to make sure you get meat from the ends where it will be a little more done, IF REQUESTED. The cold bar is very, very good with a wide selection of dishes known to include, cheese and salami slices, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon, seviche, peel and eat shrimp, crab legs, crab and avacado salad, assorted seafood salad and various cold greens as well as other items. The hot foods on the sidebar are good as well. Don't pass up the black beans or Salmon with capers if they're offering it that night. The wait staff has some exceptional members. To illustrate I must tell this true story. My wife and I went there to eat one Saturday night and one of their staple waiters came to the table after Ozzie, the owner, seated us. Now thw last time we were there which was several months prior he had been our waiter. We had Our wine bottles in the brown paper bag. After he began to explain how the serving works he abruptly stopped and recognized us, he then told us what table we sat at the last time he waited on us and then to my amazement said "I remember your wife prefers white zin, Berringers and you had the Ruffino Chianti." To make that even more foolproof that night my wife Cheryl switched up and brought a different Zin and I after picking up my Ruffino and carrying it around the state store put it back and brought a different label that night. So, a little pricey but well worth it for the quality of service and food. A would highly recommend you try it.
Food is great. All you can eat meat, is the best way to describe. The name is a little misleading... Have been to a few Brazilian churrascarias before, and this one seems to be right with the others as far as food. Some of the larger "airplane advertisment" ones are a bit more fancy inside. So, if you are looking to impress with looks rather than food, go to the LaMont (I design interiors for a living too). Food was as good as any of the true Brazilian places that I have eaten in "little San Paulo"- Newark, NJ. You're not going to get the small cafe type atmosphere, and probably won't hear a word of Portuguese, but it's Pittsburgh. One of my personal favorite places to eat. A bit pricey, but if you have an appetite, you can make it well worth the price.
I thought everything was prepared very well, especially the different selections of meat, it was very tender, although the meat was either red or pink in the middle but thats how i eat my meat at home, it is boyb but it is very well worth going to this resturant
