Visited with a group August 2009. Had a great tour which made it much more personal as the animals interacted actively with the guide. Many of the animals were hand-raised while others were rescued. Result- most are surprisingly friendly with their keepers. Don't expect a huge, fancy zoo- this is homey including the sloth hanging out at the cash register. This isn't going to impress you as fancy but our group had a great time and felt very welcome. Be sure to bob up and down with the cockatoo outside the visitor center who will dance with you.
Don't waste your hard earned money. I would NEVER recommend this place! It might have been a nice place when these other people were there... but it's not now. They wouldn't even answer my questions without an attitude! You form your own opinion... mine is go to a REAL zoo!! You will actually LEARN something!
I visited this place recently. I was appalled by what I witnessed! The animals looked so sad and SICK!! Some were very skinny, some were missing fur or part of their ears! I will never go back there, nor would I recommend it to anyone!! Go to a real zoo if you want to learn about animals... go here if you want to waste your money!!!

Couldn't agree more! They were rude and acted like my questions were a waste of their time.
