My husband and I go to Chovy's a few times a year especially on our Wedding Anniversary. We are going tonight as a matter of fact. Can't wait. We travel about 45 min but well worth the drive. The food is amazing and the quality is top notch. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant to everyone. My 10 year old even loves this place. We will be eating here for years to come. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would!
Have eaten @ this restaurant twice now. Found it by mistake the first time. Drove for an hour to visit the second time...it's that good. There food is amazing. Yes, it is a little pricey, but the atmosphere (roaming musicians with the mandolins) & food quality is so much different than always going to the same old chain restaurant. Last night I had Stuffed Hot Banana Peppers for an appetizer; these are spicy, but not burning hot, especially if you make sure to eat them with their warm italian or rye bread. I love the fact that the REAL Butter is on the table, not cold or frozen, to spread on the delicious warm bread too! For dinner I had the Chicken Scallopine - Chicken with Capers, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Artichokes & Mushrooms served in a Marsala Sauce. My 14 year old daughter had Pasta Michelangelo - Fettuccine tossed with broccoli & chicken in a Parmesan cream sauce, my 21year old daughter had Asiago Chicken Grilled chicken breast coated with Asiago cheese in a roasted garlic cream sauce with garlic cheddar mashed potatoes & vegetables & my Husband had the Delmonico Steak with the garlic mashed potatoes. Of course we all sampled one anothers; and it was all so good. The different sauces all had their own unique flavor; the vegetables were fresh & the Pasta was perfect. The steak was so tender it melted in your mouth. The average Dinner price is $14.99, I think the 12oz Delmonico Steak Dinner was 20.99. Dinners come with all the warm bread you want, and house or Caesar salad or soup of the day. I had the Caesar salad - very good, I'm thinking from the taste that the dressing was homemade, not the same old bottled stuff you get @ the chain restaurants. My Husband & youngest had Chicken Tortilla soup, that was very flavorful to. They always have wedding soup & then the soup of the day. No one tried the wedding soup though. The server was excellent, and very attentive. Most of us were drinking Coke, so he was always there with a pitcher so we didn't run out of drinks. My daughter is a "newbie" with alcoholic drinks and had ordered 2 different drinks & hated them both; but then again, I am not too fond of Martinis either, so not that they were bad, I just think you have to have a taste for that kind of a drink. She settled on White Zinfandel & was content with that. And, to our surprise we were not charged for the two drinks she returned. We had a party of 8 total. The place was packed when we arrived and we did not have reservations; but our wait was only like 5 or 10 minutes. Absolutely no Room for Dessert; but they did sound enticing! My family & I will definetely make the hour plus trip again and again I am sure. This restaurant is such a refreshing change from all of the same old same old chain restaurants (which we frequent a lot due to hectic schedules) But this place was worth taking the extra time to visit & actually sit down & enjoy our meals together. I must say that I used to like Olive Garden......don't think I can ever go there again and be satisfied!! I just found the menu online this morning (that's how I described the dinners so well!) Just Google "Chovy's" and it's like the first hit.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. My husband and I eat there regularly and every meal has been fantastic.
