I grew up in Edinboro and I absolutley love Johnnie Wilds Pizza. I moved to NC about three years ago and whenever my parents come to visit they bring me some down ... doesnt even matter that its cold its at its best as a leftover. Keep up the great pizzas and enormous calzones (still yet to find one bigger and tastier).

Simply the best: I live in Cambridge Springs and drive all the way to the 'Boro just for John's pizza and calzones. By far the best you will get in the Erie area. It is the standard by which I measure all other pizza.

Slice of NYC (or NJ) right in the backyard of Erie: I've been searching for better pizza in the heartland (or Mid Atlantic region) for 15 years. It can't be done without going to NYC. And even then - you're going to get "as good as" not better. (Not with the original coal fired ovens all fading like the dinosaurs) The decor and service ar par for the course of a college town. the food is NOT. The pie is the best blend of slightly salty, crispy edged, chewy center crust with a sauce that compliments it perfectly and is not overpowering. The cheese - is heaven. I did a tour in 2004-5 of NYC pizza places trying to find the best of the best. Sal & Carmine's, Arturo's, Original Ray's, Joe's, Grimaldi's, - I've been to them all. Love them all. But I keep coming back to John's wildwood Pizzeria in Edinboro - because they are much closer than NYC for me and are as good or better. Be a purist - try a medium plain pie and you will thank me. The subs rock as well.
