Pie, pie, pie!: Carini is my neighborhood pizza parlor. It looks like everyone's neighborhood pizza parlor, only much cleaner. The menu will not surprise you: pizza, hot and cold subs, salads, appetizers, pasta. But two things make this so much more than your neighborhood pizza parlor: fresh baked bread and Linda's pies.

Carini bakes their bread fresh for all their subs. They also have fresh baked bread bowls you can order with salads or spaghetti inside. All pasta entres come with a little loaf. For a carb-a-holic like myself there's nothing better.

Or maybe there is.

Linda (the owner) makes homemade pie. She consistantly makes the best pie in the area (this is Waterford's little secret). The crusts, even on the cream pies, are flaky and tender. I love the chocolate peanut butter, which is not too sweet. The coconut custard is to die for- real homemade egg custard, not some sort of packaged pudding. Strawberry rhubarb with a buttery crumb topping, sweet and sassy just as it should be. Flavors vary with the seasons. My daughter won't eat my pumpkin pie anymore- we have to order it from Linda. I'm a pretty good cook- that's the highest praise I can think of.
