   MoreErie's Original & Oldest Heating & Cooling Company Founded in the 1860's, the company was called Patterson Metal Works - originally manufacturing galvanized products such as pails, wash tubs & such. Patterson's son-in-law joined forces around 1900 and started manufacturing decorative metal ceilings, which were found in most retails stores of center cities. The company was then known as Patterson & Stirling Company. Their business grew to approximately 80+ employees, traveling as far as Florida and the East Coast. We manufactured the first coal furnace in the Erie area through a local foundry. Having their name imprinted into the casting, they called it the Stirling Front Model. We installed the first gas air conditioning unit in the Erie area at a local retail store. Patterson & Stirling was a major force in the movement into the forced air era, as it is known today.
