My friend and I were students at Penn State and recently returned for a football weekend. First, the parking is horrible at The Designer's Denn Salon & Spa. Also, "The Denn" is a salon not a Spa. I did not know that before booking appointments for us which culminated with a hair cut and highlights. I was charged alot for hair services, but received the worst haircut and highlighting that I have ever had. The poor girl was way out of her league. She simply did not have the competence to work on her own. And to top it off we were made to miss our dinner plans because the stylist had to spend an extra hour trying to fix her mistakes. Also, she cut my hair dry!!!! Who does that to straight hair? The massage my friend had was in a room permeated with horrible aeresol smells and the service was terrible. It was not worth the money or our time we will never go back to this spa. Horrible stylists, horrible management, horrible owner.

This is the best spa in State College! The haircuts are okay, but expensive.
The Spa is so relaxing and beautiful! If you ask anyone who has ever gone here, they will tell you the same. Worth every penny! They put you in a robe, have a glorious waiting area with snacks/drinks and a waterfall that creates the most perfect atmosphere! Dont go anywhere else! This is the BEST SPA!!! True story! :)

It's really expensive, but if you're like me and think that a fantastic haircut is worth it, then it's the salon for you! The owner isn't very friendly with customers... I've been a regular for a couple of years and she doesn't even acknowledge me when I come through the door. But it's the women who work there -- the stylists and colorists -- who are the stars of the show! They really know how to give an amazing haircut... and are on the cutting edge of coloring! The environment is professional... and I've never had a bad experience there. So if you have the cash for it, go for it!

I agree that the owner is rude! The hair cuts are not worth the cost either if you ask me. The SPA is absolutely BEAUTIFUL though! Don't go for the cuts, GO FOR THE SPA!!!! :)
