Excellent Food, often with excellent entertainment!
We have dined at Fairfield Inn on several occasions, and have never been disappointed. Our most interesting, and fun evening there was when the power went off in Fairfield! They lit candles, kept cooking with gas, and the fabulous live rennaissance/folk band that they had that evening, Cormorant's Fancy, continued to play on their acoustic instruments (they are not amplified, anyway). Go on a Friday night when Cormorant's Fancy is there! All of the food that we ate was fantastic. They do a particularly good job on their fresh-baked breads and biscuits.
We have eaten at the Fairfield Inn a few times, including Thanksgiving dinner, and nothing compares to Thanksgiving Day at the Fairfield Inn. The traditional dinner with turkey, ham, fried oysters, etc. is the best that I have ever had.
The setting is perfect for a traditional dinner. We have been seated near the hearth where the fire is always blazing. Just a great experience.
Other than Thanksgiving, when we have eaten there, the food has always been very good. I usually go for the split pea and ham soup and the chicken and biscuits. The service is always very attentive and the atmosphere is one of the best in the area.
I read where someone mentioned that the Inn is a "bit distant" from Gettysburg...hmmm. Fairfield is literally a 10 minute drive from Lincoln Square in the center of Gettysburg.
The Fairfield Inn is well worth the 10 minute drive from Gettysburg.
i found the same when we ate at the inn the food was cold and service slow and for there prices you would think they could at least serve hot food.
