I really want to like this restaurant. It offers a wonderful setting for a bistro type dining experience. Unfortunately, the food just doesn't measure up. I've eaten there four times; twice on the patio and twice inside and I've been disappointed every time. Today I ordered an omelet which included homefried potatoes and toast. I also ordered a side of bacon. The omelet was overdone. The bacon was limp not crisp. The toast was warm but not 'toasty' and was served dry. The homefried potatoes were cubed potatoes like tater tots, not thin sliced potatoes. Tea was offered as a cup of hot water with a tea bag on the side. For a place that charges what they charge, I expected a pot of hot water. Overall, I've had much better breakfasts in diners. I've only sent food back twice in my over 40 years of dining out but, I sent back an appetizer this summer that was overdone and misrepresented (as are the homefries) on the menu. It is really a shame because this restaurant could really be a destination eating experience.
Neat place in a scenic spot. Great view of the river. Charming and amusing old-fashioned shop. Friendly service and good food!
Always A Pleasure!: The food is great as is the service. The restaurant section is a bit small and lacking in ambiance, but the great food and service along with prices makes up for it.
The store section has many beautiful and unique gifts ~ prices there are a tad high, but unique things usually are.
All-in-all, it's well worth a visit for the food and store!!
