Diehl Motor Company in York is a good example of why people are afraid to go to a car dealership! The sales rep bugged us for 2 days to make sure we were coming to see a car we were interested in and called just minutes before we arrived. Once we got there we found out the car wasn't even there and that we would have to go to another location! WHAT? Sounded crazy but whatever...The fellow that was going to take us over comes in to let us know the car is ready but that the other dealership closed at 3pm so we couldn't get the keys to take it for a ride. WHAT? 3pm on a Saturday? What car dealership closes at 3pm on a Saturday knowing someone is on the way to check out a car? We could go look at it though! We just drove 50 miles to look at a car we had already seen on the internet. I expressed my dismay to the driver who took me into the Finance Officer (WHY There) where I expressed more dismay then back to the sales rep where I really expressed how upset I was that I drove the whole way there to check out a car that wasn't even there and that they should have let us know that since she had just called minutes before I arrived. One of her many poor excuses was that the car had been on a test drive with someone else just before we got there. Well Mary why wouldn't you tell us that on the phone or how about having the car driven over after the other person test drove it. It is also improtant to know that this discussion between me and Mary was just a few feet from the Sales Managers glass cubby who I knew could hear every word of what was going on. So after I was finished listening to Mary's poor excuses and expressing how upset I was I asked to speak with the Sales Manager face to face so I could talk to him about the whole situation. The sales rep walked over to let him know and he wouldn't get up to offer any assistance, an apology or anything. The entire time this was going on I really thought we were being pranked! It seems impossible to me to think that any company could be so rude, thoughtless, underhanded, incompetent, uncaring and seedy. The only apology that was offered was from the Finance Officer, not the insitent sales rep or the Sales Manager, The Finance Officer! I could go on and on. It is my opinion that they thought they had a young inexperienced person coming in to buy their first car and they were drooling at the chance to S*R*W her over. The Sales Rep was very excited to see her young client walk through the door but it seemed that her happiness began to fade when to adults followed in behind her. I am so glad we made it out of there knowing what kind of scammers they are without losing anything more than my temper and a little bit of time and gas!
This was the worst dealership I have been to in a long time. I called their office before we took the hour trip to their location to make sure they had the specific vehicle that I wanted. Of course I was told there were 4 or 5 of them on their lot. When we got there the financing portion took over an hour we were than driven 20 minutes away to another lot to look at a completely different vehicle. After spending 40 minutes on this lot with nothing the sales person returned to the phone to call his boss who attempted to put us in a SUV. Very high pressure people who don't listen to their prospective customers wishes. After 3 hours of not even test driving or finding the vehicle we want we left and now they continue to call us with again different vehicles we do not want....
The sales team is as high pressure as possible, and when the Diehl sales staff does not get their own way they are rude. There is no way to browse cars at Diehl without a swarm of sales weasels converging on you.
Hanover and Lancaster are close enough that you can easily avoid this bunch.
