our family goes here everytime we stay in Lancaster. the first aisle is American food, then an aisle of Chinese, one of dumplings and a sushi/salad aisle, ending in a dessert section. everything is fresh, I really love the mushroom dishes they make and was happy to find Korean hot cabbage as a salad offering. everyone should find something to make themselves happy, big selection and lively crowds. service is attentive and pleasant.
There are a lot of chinese buffets in Lancaster - and most of them seem to be provisioned by the same central kitchen. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but there's nothing right, either. Star Buffet seems to have their own recipes, and they're generally pretty good. The mongolian buffet here is not very popular with their patrons; most of them prefer to eat from the steam tables instead.
They have a relatively-large waitstaff to bring drinks (and refills) and clear away plates, and they mostly understand English well.
Their unsweet iced tea is a tasty pekoe tea, not an iced version of a chinese tea. That seems to be unusual among chinese restaurants. It tastes like it's made with Luzianne or Red Rose tea.
The salad is forgettable, but if you start out with some sushi, and save room for hard ice cream for dessert, you should enjoy the fare.
The restaurant is very clean, and is accessible, although they have had problems at times with water leaking on the restroom floor.
This is the restaurant between Arby's and Pizza Hut, across from Dutch Wonderland. I recommend this one highly. Don't confuse it with other chinese buffet down by Waffle House; that one needs some work on quality control.
There are both booths and tables-and-chairs available. The chairs are comfortable, and are armless, which some supersized people consider to be a godsend.
Many buffets are horribly noisy. Between the low noise level and the pleasant muzak, this is a nice place to enjoy companionship and conversation as well as a tasty meal.
Dinner buffet is $10.99, which includes your beverage, and prices are even lower for lunch - a real bargain. There are only a few items which are missing from the lunch buffet. They also have a "buy ten, get one free" card available.
If you come at dinnertime, be sure to try the coconut shrimp. It's not a brown hard-fried shrimp, but a shrimp coated in coconut cream and coconut. The stuffed mushrooms and the stuffed clams are also great.
Great Chinese buffet. Good selection and very tasty. They also have a Mongolian Barbecue and sushi all for the same price. Very reasonable.
