have been camping at ponderosa for a few years now, and intend to continue to do so as long as we can. there are alot of new activities , we don't have to pay for showers anymore, the bathhouses have been painted and redone, drainage problems have been corrected, alot of improvements and additons made. this year there were some problems and the new owners have done what they could to rectify and it did mean losing some old seasonals, most of them they're own choice. don't let a few disgruntled campers make up your mind for you check out the campground and make up your own mind. our children love it here!
This used to be a nice campground where we camped at on holidays. The new owners should not be in the campground business. The sites have not be leveled in a couple of years. There is no escort to your site to make sure you can get in (some of them are hard to get in to). There used to be garbage pickup and wood delivery, but not anymore. You have to do that on your own. The place looks run down now.
There are creepy looking staff members working there now, too. Not to mention if you have a difference of opinion with the owner, she throws you out. I've seen good people thrown out for stupid things...both weekenders and seasonals alike. For the most part the seasonal campers are nice people, but when we camped there last, a lot of them were fed up and not going to return.
There are people up at night making noise and no one comes around to check on things. There is no security either. Anyone can just drive right on in unchallenged.
If you want a party campground with no rule enforcement, this is your place.
Used to be a nice place to camp. Has gone downhill in the past year. Facilities are dirty and in need of maintenance, pool is overgrown with weeds. Walkway around pool is in bad shape, dangerous to walk on. Has become more of a party place with no rules. Security is lacking also and the grounds are open to the public for anyone to use. Website is out-of-date, pictures are at least 3 years old if not more. We camped here every holiday weekend for many years. Staff is rude and vulgar at times. We won't be back.
