Never Again: I had an event at Genettis this past September (2006) for 150 people in the Grand Ballroom. The place is in serious need of an update (probably why the pictures that they do have on their website are very tiny and very dated). If you're going to have something there I suggest that your guests arrive in the dark. The carpets were dirty, the dance floor in the Grand Ballroom is patched with different hardwood tones. The risers for the head tables were carpeted and torn on the corners and just plain dingy looking, the wall paper is peeling, basically the decor speaks for itself, 80's. I paid $200 to have these tacky Christmas Lights taken down from the ceiling (they were stapled into the discolored, saging ceiling tiles). We paid $2.50 per person for a liquor upgrade at the bar, and the bartenders still used Jacquins (we tried to get our money back - no luck). The restrooms are dark, with dark wood paneling, dark counters etc. The latches were broken on some of the stall doors in the women's room. The wait staff was however, very good, very fast and attentive. This is not the place to have a wedding. You can not taste the food beforehand, and while you can probably ask to see the china and flatware, you'd probably find better in a cafeteria. I asked if they would set up a small table for my photographer and his assistant to sit at so they could eat, they refused and I was forced to sit him with family members. I also requested a signature drink at the bar be served during cocktail hour. I wanted a mix of lemonade and rum (among other things). They wanted $30 a gallon for lemonade, needless to say we didn't use lemonade. The list goes on and on...go and see for yourself.
