I am a current student of Penn Foster. My class is extremely disorganized. They change the class schedule over and over and no notice is given. I have to adjust my real job schedule to accommodate. The teacher tells people over and over she has too many students and is tired of all the emails. They are rude to people and make you feel stupid for "bothering" them.
They have a participation requirement that is completely unclear. They make you spend time reading about teenage girls face book pages in order to make a participation grade.
The school is a Joke and judging by the quality of the other student this degree would carry no weight.
To bad they don't allow you to cancel as I will be out $1000 for almost no education. Their techniques were outdated and the books were flimsy booklets with no meat to them.
Steer clear folks, if your unhappy your screwed they charge a hefty cancellation fee.
Don't waste your money if you want a QUALITY education!
I have used this school to further my understanding of a few hobbies, but would never dream of expecting a good paying job based on their certification.
I found the materials to be extremely outdated. I don't think their study materials have been revised since at LEAST the 1980's. Sad, but does make for a few good laughs when you see the pictures!
Even worse is the assistance you receive from the "instructors". They hide behind their answer sheets and are extremely closed minded. Their short, rude, and poorly written replies are of little help. Do not expect to be rewarded for hard work and insight.
I strongly urge anyone considering this school to skip it and enrole in a REAL college, or at least at an online school that doesn't consider 1994 "newly revised" in 2009.
I am also attending this school for pet grooming. I am half way finished in 1 month. It was too easy, but not good enough. For pet grooming, one should have visual support like DVD on how to do bathing, trimming and cutting. However, this school refuses to provide such support. How can you learn cutting hair without seeing it in action?
Anyway, I am too late to be able to cancel.
If you are a visual learner, DO NOT join this program.
