I highly suggest that you do not go to The Salter School, whether it is the Tewksbury campus or any of their other campuses. My entire experience with The Salter School has been horrendous.

When you first meet with one of their staff members to discuss enrolling for classes, they try to influence your decision as to which course you take. Then, once you've chosen a course that's acceptable to them, they will mislead you about your loan options, amounts, and pay-outs. After they've finished this, they will tell you when orientation is and set you off on your way to a "promising" career education.

They offer certificates as incentive for you to have perfect attendance as well as a 4.0 GPA. However, they will most likely fail to deliver these certificates to you as they forgot or misplaced mine numerous times. Additionally, some of the teachers hand BACK tests for you to "study" (more like memorize so they look good) before tests. To me, this is not teaching. If students cannot pass tests without you basically spoon feeding the material to them then you are not doing your job as an educator. Also, if you're told that you can test out of a class, do not believe it. I was told that I could test out of two of my classes and when I tried to do so, I was told I could not. I ended up getting 4.0s in both of the classes (and no, I did not get my certificates certifying that I had passed Excel for Children or English 101).

Additionally, when you are almost finished with your classes, something will happen with the curriculum. Your classes may not be offered anymore, they may ask you to switch to night classes rather than day (or vice versa), or stick you in the middle of a classroom full of Massage Therapy students when you're taking a Medical Assistant course!

Lastly, when you finish your classes or get left high and dry by the "wonderful" Salter School, your loan payments will begin to come in. Surprise, surprise, surprise! They're for more money than originally agreed upon! Oh, what's this? The Salter School thinks that they are entitled to your money as well? In excess of what you actually owe?

In short, The Salter School is a joke. Their English course is inept- it's mind blowing that some people cannot pass it when a 5th grader is capable of doing so, the staff there cannot handle a task so simple as faxing transcripts to another campus (or returning your numerous phone calls), and teachers turn their heads the other way when students cheat in order to get out of taking a class.

It is a sad excuse for a "Career Learning Institute." If I wanted to be around people who smoked marijuana at lunch, people who sold or took perscription pills during school hours, or lose out on almost $15,000 I would have gone to Vegas.
