About:T.G.I. Friday's, the first American casual dining chain, is a dining experience that has become the favorite pastime of millions since 1965. The first T.G.I. Friday's was located at First Avenue and 63rd Street in New York City and featured red and white stripes, a blue exterior and its name -- T.G.I. Friday's. Inside were wooden floors, Tiffany lamps, bentwood chairs and striped tablecloths. The bar area, with its brass rails and stained glass, contributed to the ambiance. For T.G.I. Friday's interior decor, a full time antique "picker" traveled extensively to auctions and flea markets. Memorabilia had to be authentic and, if possible, unique to the area where the new restaurant would be located. In a Nashville warehouse, this "clutter" was restored before being loaded on a truck bound for the next T.G.I. Friday's opening. The New York T.G.I. Friday's enjoyed an immediate and spectacular success. First year revenues totaled $1 million. This restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side had become THE meeting place for single adults. In fact, according to Newsweek and The Saturday Evening Post, the opening of T.G.I. Friday's heralded the dawn of the singles age. By 1972, the restaurant as we know it today was taking everyone by storm. By 1975, there were ten T.G.I. Friday's restaurants in eight states. As of June 30 there are 609 in 52 countries! As the guests have changed, so has Friday's. The company has grown and the guests have matured. Now many of them bring their children with them when they dine at T.G.I Friday's and, T.G.I. Friday's still offers an unsurpassed menu selection of food prepared to perfection, served in a lively, engaging atmosphere.

Atmosphere was very nice as the decor was recently redone. Very crowded on a Saturday night. More bar tenders needed as I experienced a very long wait time to get a drink. Price for a Grey Goose Cosmopolitan was on the high side ($8.00).
Only salads were ordered for dinner (Caesar and Crusted Pecan Chicken). Both were very weak and small for the price. Service was poor. Waited very long for desert.

What I like about this restaurant is they always have new things to try.
The drawback to these chain type restaurants is the clapping&shouting routine they do every couple minutes for birthdays&such. These places also attract alot of kids sports teams, especially on Saturday nites. Before you know it there are loads of little kids running around the place, after their games & things.

If you "Chain Restaurant" food, you like TGIF: Bad service, heavily peppered food, high prices. What's not to like? Why do these chain restaurants keep dumping pepper on thier cheap cuts of meats. Guess the kids can't tell the difference, but hot peppered chicken noodle soup? There are limits!

I worked for tgif for quite a number of years and if you got A steak and it was pepered heavely that is the person cooking it because he ucked up and made your complain about that! instead of how he overcooked it, some times they make A mistake and throue A steak on and the order is messed up or something, that is the steak you got! this way at the end of the night whan they fill there on hand sheets out they dont have to say they waysted A steak! I worked in lafayette LA It was A brand new store they spent about 70.000 dollars training people they invite the over 200 people that work there's famileys for free. Anyway go to A different one and order the same thing but dont go on A real busy night, just like any reasterant they all make mistakes..
