I have to agree with Dr Serota and the often homeopathic approach. My daughter a year ago had an awful sinus infection. She couldn't breathe, couldn't hear (I'd say her hearing was decreased by 50% at times). This went on for 2-3 weeks when I finally realized OTC remedies weren't helping. Dr Serota completely downplayed her condition. I explained to him we were leaving for vacation in 5 days and could he please treat her because she had been ill with little or not improvement in 2.5 weeks. He said "let it run it's course". Got home. My daughter was crying in discomfort. I was so upset I called the office and demanded to see another doctor the next day. Got a female, younger physician who, after examining her, said to me, "good thing you brought her in" and prescribed a course of antibiotics. Then, 3-4 months later, my other daughter had what was starting to look like pink eye. Again saw Dr Serota and explained we were leaving for a 7 night cruise in 2 days. AGAIN, he told me to "ride it out". I had to debate with him, that I would be out at sea and would have no recourse for getting prescription eye drops if this developed into full blown pink eye. He did give in and prescribe something, but sort of with an attitude. Now, I just ask to see another doctor or Joanne (Nurse Practioner who is his wife). She is awesome and my girls love her. Fast forward to this week. My college age daughter needs a health history form filled out. No physical required. Just needs proof of childhood vaccinations. Ambler Peds office staff told me they would not do with without a physical ??? I explained my daughter is working in VA this month and could get a physical done in July but just needs this copy of her vaccinations faxed to her college by June 19. They said no. So now I am scrambling to find a doctor's office down in VA who will see her and fill out this paperwork at my cost of $150 ! I will be switching doctor's offices soon.

Oh, meant to add...the form from my daughter's college clearly states : "no physical required". Still they will not just fill in her vaccination dates.

I have been to Ambler Pediatrics about 8 times since the birth of my daughter. On average, I have had to wait 30-45 minutes alone in the exam room before seeing the doctor. With an infant this seems like forever.

I'm sure Dr. Serota is very capable and experienced, but he also can come across as arrogant. As a new mother, this is the last thing I needed.

I am currently looking for a new Pediatrician.

We have had our child to Ambler Pediatrics a few times and we were left in the exam room each time for over 45 minutes with Dr Serota sitting in the front office doing paperwork while we waited. For a child who is sick, that is not fair to have them wait this long when no other patients are being seen and we were on time for our appointment. We also had problems with lack of treatment and other office issues and have since taken our child somewhere else. This seems to be a very "out of date" office and a more homeopathic office and for some I am sure that is great, but when your child is very sick and needs medicine, this treatment is not the choice.
